About the Team and Role:
The Experience Platform team is looking for a full-stack/backend software engineer who’s excited to build foundational product systems that will scale with Pinecone’s rapid growth. You will have a wide scope of responsibility and ownership over delivering an exceptional user experience, from data and server architecture to API and UI design. For this role, we’re specifically looking for someone who can dive into our metering and data pipelines to increase scalability, reliability, and performance.
As a new team at Pinecone, we have a strong mandate to deliver a world-class product experience for our users across a wide range of domains, including authentication, observability, usage metering, and growth initiatives. Our mission is to accelerate product development and user acquisition through high-leverage platform capabilities. The team is small and authors primarily in Typescript and Rust. We work very closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to identify user needs and build the right thing, at the right abstraction level, at the right time. We need someone who isn’t satisfied until their work has had a measurable impact on our users and who’s willing to reach across the stack to find opportunities for innovation.
Responsibilities:
Build and maintain metering/billing, observability and data pipelines for Pinecone’s products
Provide architecture recommendations and implement them
Write performant code and define standards for style and maintenance
Support and mentor team members to grow technical skills
Ship medium to large features independently and with minimal guidance
Influence long-range goals and achieve consensus among stakeholders
Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience focused on full-stack web development
Experienced with back-end development (NodeJS, Rust, Python, or Go)
Experience designing, building and maintaining RESTful APIs
Experience with big data engineering
Sound fundamentals of data structures and algorithm
